Day 16 – A song that you used to love but now hate

So this song I don't know why, but Landon and I used to love/listen to it a lot. The Freak Parade by Big and Rich. Now looking back at that song its just dumb. We used to listen to it a lot though haha we thought it was great back then

Day 14 – A song that no one would expect you to love

This is a song that I'm not sure why I love. I remember hearing it when I was little. It brings back good memories I guess of Saturdays with my mom.

Day 11 – A song from your favorite band

I don't know if I have a favorite band. But this is a band I love and this song has been on the radio a lot lately and I love it ;)

Day 10 – A song that makes you fall asleep

So I love listening to Irish Fiddle/Irish & Celtic Folk music to chelax. When I'm on school trips I've got a whole playlist of like over 100 of these types of instrumentals and I just plug my Ipod in and go to sleep. Love it :) Sometimes when I cant sleep when I'm home I play it too. I'm not sure why I like it so much, but its super relaxing to me. Oh this song is called Danny Boy :)

Day Six and Seven. A song that reminds you of somewhere. A song the reminds you of a certain event.

"On my Honor" it is a song that I learned my second year of High Uintah Scout Camp when I was 13. It became the camp song. I got a piece of paper that had the song on it that second year of my camp experience when Dan John introduced the song to the staff. I've kept that piece of paper in my wallet ever sense. When I hear that song it brings me back to those weeks spent at camp. The rain every afternoon some weeks. The horrible hot dry days other weeks. Waking up at six in the morning to go jump in the lake. Waking up at 5:30 the next day to go on a sunrise hike. Teaching those crazy 12 & 13 year old boys. Learning so much about myself. It was during those weeks at camp that I found part of who I am. Learning from those 12 & 13 year old boys. Walking a mile singing every step to flag ceremony in the morning and evening. Being afraid that Oscar, (the bear that came to camp) may come again. Sleeping night after night in those big green canvas army tents that smell strange at first, but soon become home. Memories of nights playing games by lantern light fighting moths and mesquitos. I could go on forever. One of our fellow staffers died from Hantavirus that he got while cleaning a barn for somebody else. He was one of the young men who changed my life. He lived his life with Honor. He did his Duty to God. This song brings me back to the nights crying with staff at the end of flag ceremony because we all have to go home. Hugging Cameron at Windy Park at the end of High Uintah Scout Camp. This songs fills both somewhere and an event. Every summer of Scout camp. The beautiful pink and blue sky at night as Papa Max or uncle Slade have the Scout Masters Minute. Yelling "HOW HOW GREAT!" and listening to the perfect eco. If any one song can bring me to a place, remind me of an event it is On My Honor. Windy Park will always be the place that as I crest into the top of the meadow I will realize I'm home again in the place where so many young boys lives are changed. Where my life was changed. It is a feeling only those who have had their lives changed at that camp could ever understand. As you read the song, keep in mind that this song changed my soul and helped shape me into the young man I am today. This song brings me to tears every time. This song helped me feel of God's Love. That I can make a difference. On   My Honor I Will Try. If you want to understand me and part of what makes me who I am. Come to High Uintah Scout Camp and listen as we sing this song, if only more boys could have this chance.

On My Honor:

On my honor I will try
There's a duty to be done, and I say "Aye"
There's a reason here for reason above
My honor is to try my duty is to love.

People don't need to know my name
If I've done any harm then I'm to blame
If I've helped someone then I've helped me
And I've opened up my eyes to see.

On my honor I will try
There's a duty to be done, and I say "Aye"
There's a reason here for reason above
My honor is to try  my duty is to love.

I've tucked away a song or two
If you're feeling low, there's one for you
If you need a friend, then I will come
There's plenty more where that comes from.

On my honor I will try
There's a duty to be done, and I say "Aye"
There's a reason here for reason above
My honor is to try  my duty is to love.

Come come where the fire burns bright
You can even see better by candle light
You can learn more here in the campfires glow
Than you'll ever know in a year or so.

On my honor I will try
There's a duty to be done, and I say "Aye"
There's a reason here for reason above
My honor is to try my duty is to love.

This again was a hard one, but not for the same reasons. My least favorite song would probably be Stay by Sugarland. Drives me nuts every time I hear it. It was way way overplayed and the music video was on TV everyday all the time. Watching her cry over and over about being the woman a man is cheating on his wife with ruined it for me.

THE 30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE... Day one! My favorite song.

My favorite song. That is almost like asking who your favorite sibling is, but I decided on a song that has been my favorite most days in the past two years of my life. "If You Could Hie to Kolob." This song always hits me deeply. There are other songs that where so close! But I felt the other songs will fit better into another day :) Wish my luck on making this challenge work! Way to be Jade ;)
